How reviews are scheduled

Each line comes back just before you would forget it. The schedule is set by FSRS, a modern spaced-repetition algorithm.

  1. Learn
  2. +1 day
  3. +1 week
  4. +1 month
  5. +4 months
A line you keep finding, review after review (approximate).

No buttons to rate yourself

When you finish a line in Review, ChessAtlas scores it from the moves you found on the first try. Mistakes bring it back sooner, a clean run pushes it further away.

Tomorrow first

A line you just learned comes back the next day. Later intervals depend on your grade, when you review and your SRS settings; successful reviews usually spread them out.

Missed a move?

Before moving on, you replay the moves you missed. In a review, the share of moves you found on the first try sets the grade, and FSRS uses that grade to schedule the next review. With Strict grading, a single miss counts as a failed review.

Want to train more?

Overstudy drills lines that are not due yet. Their schedule only changes if the drill fails: more than half the moves missed, or a single one with Strict grading. To test a line early, use Review now.
