These General Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a contract between you ("User", "you") and ANKT SERVICES ("Provider", "we", "our") governing the use of the ChessAtlas platform. By using the Service, you accept these terms in their entirety. Please read them carefully.

IMPORTANT: By creating an account or subscribing, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these Terms as well as our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept these terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Definitions

For the interpretation of these Terms, the following terms have the indicated meaning:

"Subscription": a contract for the provision of digital content and services in exchange for periodic payment.
"Account": the User's personal space created upon registration on the platform.
"Library Content": courses, repertoires, and educational materials created by the Provider and made available to Users.
"User Content": original creative content created by the User on the platform.
"Service": the ChessAtlas platform accessible via the website and applications.
"Variation": a sequence of chess moves representing a line in a repertoire.

3. Purpose of the Service

ChessAtlas is a chess opening training platform that allows users to:

Create and study personalized opening repertoires
Access a library of professional courses created by ChessAtlas
Import and analyze games from Lichess and Chess.com
Train with spaced repetition algorithms (SM-2/FSRS)
Track progress, streaks, and identify deviations
Earn experience points and track statistics

4. Service Access

4.1 Account Creation

Full use of the Service requires creating an account. The User must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. The User is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their credentials.

4.2 Age Requirements

The Service is accessible to persons aged at least 13 years. Minors under 18 must obtain authorization from their parents or legal guardians.

4.3 One Account Per Person

Each user may only hold one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent limitations is prohibited.

5. Plans and Pricing

ChessAtlas offers several subscription plans with different feature levels. All prices are shown in euros including VAT.

6. Free Trial Period

6.1 Eligibility

We may offer a free trial period to new subscribers. Only one free trial is allowed per person, household, or payment method.

6.2 Trial Conditions

At the end of the trial period, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription, unless you cancel before the trial ends. We will send you a reminder email at least 3 days before your trial ends.

7. Subscription and Renewal

7.1 Automatic Renewal

YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WILL AUTOMATICALLY RENEW at the end of each billing period, unless you cancel before the renewal date.

7.2 Prior Notice

We will inform you by email of the renewal date:

Monthly subscription: at least 7 days before the renewal date
Annual subscription: between 3 months and 1 month before the renewal date

7.3 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings, via a dedicated cancellation button. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.

8. Price and Payment

8.1 Prices

Prices are shown in euros including all taxes (VAT at the applicable rate).

8.2 Payment Methods

Payment is made by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via Stripe, our PCI-DSS certified secure payment provider. We do not store your credit card numbers.

9. Right of Withdrawal

9.1 Principle

You have a period of 14 days from subscription to exercise your right of withdrawal, without having to provide reasons.

9.2 Exception for Digital Content

The right of withdrawal cannot be exercised if you have expressly consented to the immediate execution of the contract and acknowledged thereby losing your right of withdrawal.

10. Digital Conformity Guarantee

The Provider is required to provide digital content that conforms to the contract. The legal guarantee of conformity applies for the duration of the subscription.

11. Service Availability

We strive to ensure Service availability of 99.5% per month. Planned maintenance interruptions (notified at least 48 hours in advance) are not counted.

12. Intellectual Property

12.1 Provider's Property

The Service, its content (excluding User Content), its features, and the underlying technology are the exclusive property of ANKT SERVICES.

12.2 User Content

You retain ownership of the original creative content you create on the platform (annotations, notes, selection and arrangement of moves in repertoires).

13. Liability

Our liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damages. In any case, our total liability shall not exceed the higher of: (a) amounts paid by the User in the 12 months preceding the event; (b) one hundred euros (€100).

14. Personal Data

The processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, accessible at /privacy. ANKT SERVICES is the data controller for your personal data under GDPR.

15. Termination

You can terminate your account at any time from your account settings. Following termination, your access to the Service will be revoked and your User Content will be deleted in accordance with our data retention policy.

We commit to acknowledging receipt of your complaint within 48 hours and responding within 5 business days.

17. Dispute Resolution

In case of unresolved disputes, you may use consumer mediation services free of charge.

Consumer Mediation

As of March 2026, we are in the process of joining a mediation service. Mediator contact details will be published here once membership is effective.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, and after failure of any amicable resolution or mediation attempt, French courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you benefit from the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
