The Service is accessible to persons aged at least 13 years. Minors under 18 must obtain authorization from their parents or legal guardians, in particular before making any purchase.

5.3 Prices Displayed
Prices on the website and the web application are shown in US Dollars (USD). The total amount payable, all taxes included, is displayed on the payment page before you confirm your order. In-app purchases on iOS and Android are priced by Apple or Google in your local currency, as shown in the store before you confirm.
Promotional prices or discount codes (for example a code given to customers of our other apps) apply only under the conditions displayed when they are offered. Current pricing is always displayed on our pricing page.
6. Lifetime Plan
The Lifetime plan is a one-time payment, sold on the web only. It gives access to Premium, including courses and Premium features added later, for as long as we operate the Service, with no renewal and nothing further to pay. It works in the mobile app with the same account.
If you buy Lifetime while you have a running subscription, that subscription stops as soon as the Lifetime payment goes through, and its remaining time is not refunded (this is stated on the payment page before you pay). Lifetime access ends if the payment is fully refunded or disputed.
7. Subscription and Renewal
7.1 Automatic Renewal
The monthly subscription is a contract of indefinite duration, without commitment, billed each month: it continues from month to month until you cancel it, which you can do at any time. The annual subscription is concluded for one year; YOUR ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION WILL AUTOMATICALLY RENEW for one more year at the end of each year, unless you cancel before the renewal date. Each payment is charged to the payment method on file. There is no free trial: the first month or year is charged when you subscribe.
7.2 Prior Notice
For annual subscriptions, in accordance with Article L215-1 of the French Consumer Code, we inform you by a dedicated email, no earlier than three months and no later than one month before the renewal date, of your right not to renew, with the deadline for doing so shown in a clearly visible box. If this information is not sent to you, you may end the subscription free of charge at any time from the renewal date, and any advance paid after the last renewal is refunded within thirty days of termination, minus the amount corresponding to the service supplied until then.
Statutory provisions reproduced under Article L215-4 of the French Consumer Code (French original)
Article L215-1.
7.3 Price Changes
We may change the price of the subscriptions for future billing periods. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to your subscription; it applies only from your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then. A change never affects a period you have already paid for or a Lifetime purchase.
7.4 Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time, without giving reasons and without contacting us:
- Subscribed on the web: in the web application, go to Settings, then Billing, click "Cancel subscription" and confirm on the secure page of our payment processor, Stripe. This online cancellation feature is provided in accordance with Article L215-1-1 of the French Consumer Code.
- Subscribed in the iOS or Android app: from the subscription settings of the App Store or Google Play, as the store handles that subscription.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period: you keep Premium until then and are not charged again. The current period is not refunded, except under the right of withdrawal (Section 9) or where the law provides otherwise.
Effect of cancellation: when your subscription ends, your account reverts to the Free plan. Variations beyond the Free quota become non-trainable (training writes are refused) but remain readable, and Premium library lines go back to their free preview; your training progress, statistics, and forked library courses are preserved server-side and become trainable again automatically if you resubscribe.
7.5 Change of Plan and Failed Payments
When you switch a monthly web subscription to the annual plan, the amount due that day (the annual price minus a credit for the unused part of the month) is shown before you confirm. If a renewal payment fails, our payment processor retries it and you keep Premium for 7 days; after that, Premium is suspended until the payment succeeds.
8. Price and Payment
8.1 Seller and Taxes
For purchases made on the web, the seller is ANKT SERVICES. Prices are shown in US Dollars (USD). VAT is calculated at checkout by our payment processor, Stripe: consumers in the European Union pay French VAT at 20%; customers outside the European Union are not charged French VAT. The amount charged, taxes included, is shown before you pay.
8.2 Payment Methods
Payment is made by card, including through wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, or by another payment method displayed on the checkout page, via Stripe, our PCI-DSS certified payment provider. The Lifetime plan can only be paid by card. We do not store your card numbers. A subscription is charged when you subscribe and then at each renewal; the Lifetime plan is charged once. Your invoices are available from Settings, then Billing, in the web application.
8.3 In-App Purchases
Subscriptions bought in the iOS or Android app are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own terms, which govern payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds for those purchases. Premium bought on the web unlocks the mobile app with the same account, and a subscription bought in a store unlocks the web application.
9. Right of Withdrawal
9.1 Principle
If you are a consumer, you have 14 days from the conclusion of the contract (the day you subscribe or buy the Lifetime plan on the web) to withdraw from it, without giving reasons and without any penalty. The right applies to the initial purchase, not to each automatic renewal.
9.2 Using Premium During the Withdrawal Period
Premium is available as soon as your payment is confirmed. Our checkout does not ask you to waive your right of withdrawal, so using Premium during the 14 days does not make you lose it: if you withdraw within that period, you are refunded in full.
9.3 Exercising the Right
To withdraw, send us an unambiguous statement before the 14-day period expires, by email to support@chessatlas.net or by post to the address in Section 1. You may use the model form below; it is not mandatory.
Model withdrawal form
(Please complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.)

Email address of the ChessAtlas account (optional, to find your purchase): ...
Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper): ...

9.4 Refund
We refund all payments received for that purchase no later than 14 days after we receive your withdrawal, using the same means of payment, at no cost to you. Premium access granted by that purchase ends when the refund is made.
9.5 In-App Purchases
For subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play, withdrawal and refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their own procedures (for Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com; for Google: the Google Play refund request page).
10. Digital Conformity Guarantee
The Provider is bound by the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and digital services (Articles L224-25-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code). For a subscription, and for the Lifetime plan, which are supplied continuously, it covers any lack of conformity that appears while the Service is supplied to you. In case of a lack of conformity, you are entitled, free of charge, to have the Service brought into conformity or, failing that, to a price reduction or to terminate the contract with a refund, under the conditions set by law. To use the guarantee, contact support@chessatlas.net.
Legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (statutory notice, Article D211-4 of the French Consumer Code)
For this notice, the period of supply of the digital service set by the contract is: for the monthly subscription, the whole period during which this indefinite-duration contract remains in force; for the annual subscription, the one-year contractual period and each renewed one-year period; for the Lifetime plan, the whole period during which the Service is supplied under that contract (the "supply period").
The consumer has the right to invoke the legal guarantee of conformity in the event of a lack of conformity that appears during the supply period. During this period, the consumer only has to establish the existence of the lack of conformity, not the date on which it appeared.
The legal guarantee of conformity includes an obligation for the professional, where applicable, to supply all the updates necessary to keep the digital service in conformity during the supply period.
The legal guarantee of conformity entitles the consumer to have the digital service brought into conformity without undue delay following the request, free of charge and without major inconvenience. The consumer may obtain a price reduction by keeping the service, or terminate the contract and obtain a full refund in return for giving up the service, if: (1) the professional refuses to bring the digital service into conformity; (2) bringing the digital service into conformity is delayed without justification; (3) bringing the digital service into conformity cannot be done without costs imposed on the consumer; (4) bringing the digital service into conformity causes a major inconvenience to the consumer; (5) the lack of conformity of the digital service persists despite the professional's unsuccessful attempt to bring it into conformity.
The consumer is also entitled to a price reduction or to terminate the contract where the lack of conformity is so serious that it justifies an immediate price reduction or termination. The consumer is then not required to first ask for the service to be brought into conformity. Where the lack of conformity is minor, the consumer is entitled to terminate the contract only if the contract does not provide for payment of a price.
Any period during which the digital service is unavailable with a view to bringing it back into conformity suspends the guarantee that remained to run until the service is supplied again in conformity.
These rights result from Articles L224-25-1 to L224-25-31 of the French Consumer Code. A professional who obstructs in bad faith the implementation of the legal guarantee of conformity is liable to a civil fine of up to 300,000 euros, which may be increased to 10% of the average annual turnover (Article L242-18-1 of the French Consumer Code).
The consumer also benefits from the legal guarantee against hidden defects under Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from the discovery of the defect. This guarantee entitles the consumer to a price reduction if the service is kept, or to a full refund in return for giving it up.
11. Service Availability
We strive to ensure Service availability of 99.5% per month. Planned maintenance interruptions (notified at least 48 hours in advance) are not counted.
12. Intellectual Property
12.1 Provider's Property
The Service, its content (excluding User Content), its features, and the underlying technology are the exclusive property of ANKT SERVICES.
12.2 User Content
You retain ownership of the original creative content you create on the platform (annotations, notes, selection and arrangement of moves in repertoires).
Forks of library courses retain the source's authorship. When you fork a library course, you obtain an editable copy. The underlying content (move tree, original annotations) authored by the library author remains their intellectual property; your additions and modifications on top are User Content.
13. Liability
If you are a consumer, we are liable to you under the conditions of French law, and nothing in these Terms limits or excludes your right to compensation where we fail to perform our obligations.
If you use the Service for professional purposes, our liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damages, and our total liability shall not exceed the higher of: (a) amounts paid by the User in the 12 months preceding the event; (b) one hundred euros (€100), except in case of gross negligence, willful misconduct, or where the law does not allow such a limitation.
14. Personal Data
The processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, accessible at /privacy. ANKT SERVICES is the data controller for your personal data under GDPR.
15. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. A subscription that can still renew must be cancelled first (Section 7.4). Deleting your account ends your access immediately, including any remaining paid time and any Lifetime plan, without refund (except under the right of withdrawal, Section 9), and your User Content is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
16. Complaints and Support
For any complaints or support requests, contact our customer service:
Email: support@chessatlas.net
We commit to acknowledging receipt of your complaint within 48 hours and responding within 5 business days.
17. Dispute Resolution
In accordance with Articles L611-1 et seq. and L612-1 of the French Consumer Code, if you are a consumer and a dispute has not been resolved after a written complaint to our customer service (Section 16), you may refer it free of charge to a consumer mediator.
Consumer Mediation
We are in the process of joining a consumer mediation service. The mediator's name and website will be published here once membership is effective.
18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, and after failure of any amicable resolution or mediation attempt, French courts shall have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings before the court of your place of residence, as provided by law.
If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you benefit from the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
