“Chess is 99% tactics.” Richard Teichmann

A Chess tactic is a sequence of one or more moves which result in a clear advantage. Most times a tactic can win you a piece or force your opponent to excute a specific move. While “Chess is 99% tactics” may be an overstatement, it’s a good way of conveing how importants tactics are in a practical game. Especially for the inexperienced player, tactics are an important aspect of the learning journey. Studying tactics will help you gain advantage in certain positions and, arguably the most important aspect, will help you defending from your oppenents’ tactics.
